Hello! My name is Tonya Whatley.  I am so excited to be teaching at Strike Middle School this year.  I will be working as a dyslexia interventionist.  This is my twenty-seventh year teaching. I received my Bachelors of Science degree from East Texas State University. I have taught first grade, second grade, fourth grade, and a reading intervention class. I have my ESL and GT certifications. I am so excited about my new role this year. 

I just moved to Little Elm two years ago. I moved to Strike from Brent Elementary.  I am married to Brian Whatley. I have three stepchildren: Jordan, Graci, and Serena. I love  my  Little Elm family.  I am excited about my move to middle school.

I have a passion for teaching students to read. I took the LEAD teacher training to learn strategies to teach students with dyslexia. I love to give struggling readers the tools they need to become successful in reading. I want to help students build a love for reading.  I can't wait to meet you and your child.  I will do everything I can to help your child have an enjoyable learning experience.  It is my goal to help your child become a more confident and successful reader.
