Mrs. Alicia Matthews-6th Grade ELAR
I am looking forward to an exciting new year in a beautiful new building! I am beginning my 13th year in Little Elm and my 8th year teaching ELAR. I am married and we have 4 beautiful children, Sherise (my bonus daughter is 30), Devin (19), Avery (16), and Kamryn (15). We have lived in Little Elm for 22 years and love watching our town grow. When I am not teaching, I love working out, cooking, gardening, reading, and watching movies with my family.
My teaching style is building relationships before anything else. I believe in giving all children a voice by supporting, loving, and encouraging them. I believe each child has a gift and I try to help them discover that through reading, writing, creating, and sharing.
This year will be such an amazing year for your child, and I am blessed to be a part of it. Please feel free to contact me by email anytime you have questions or concerns.

6th Grade ELAR
Classwork- Formative (60%)
- Common Formative Assessments (CFA)
- CFA Quizzes as checkpoints throughout each unit
- Homework and daily classwork
Tests- Summative - (40%)
- CSA- Common Summative Assessment (projects, essays, and multiple-choice exams).
If a student does not turn in an assignment when due, an ‘M’ will be placed in the grade book until the work is turned in. An 'M' will transfer to a '0' (zero) automatically at the end of a grading period.
I believe students at this age should begin advocating for themselves and their academic needs. I will work with your child to build on that skill throughout the year, so they are ready when they get to high school.
