District of Innovation Timeline

  • December 12, 2016 The Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees unanimously adopted a resolution for the District to initiate the process of designation as a District of Innovation as required by TEC 12A.001. 

     
    December 12, 2016 The Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees held a public hearing to consider whether the District should develop a Local Innovation Plan as required by TEC 12A.002.
     

    December 12, 2016 The Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees appointed a District Advisory Committee as required by TEC 12A.002.

     

    January 11, 2017 The District Advisory Committee met to discuss potential exemptions from certain provisions of the Texas Education Code as outlined in TEC Chapter 12A.
     

    January 19, 2017 The District Advisory Committee held a public meeting to consider and vote on the Local Innovation Plan as required by TEC 12A.005. The voting members of the District Advisory Committee unanimously approved the plan.

     

    January 20, 2017 The District Advisory Committee Local Innovation Plan, approved on January 19, 2017 at a public meeting, was posted for a 30-day period prior to the Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees voting on the plan.

     

    February 27, 2017 The Board unanimously voted to approve the local DOI plan at a public meeting conducted in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. 

     

    February 28, 2017 A letter was sent to the Commissioner of Education designating Little Elm ISD as a District of Innovation.
