  • "Read Across Little Elm" (RALE) is an opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading with our students, staff, and community.  Each year we invite community members, families, and friends to join our students in reading their favorite books during the RALE week.  Students wait eagerly each day to discover who is going to be the Guest Reader in their classroom that day!  Reading schedules are organized by each school's librarian.  Be on the lookout for more information and a call for readers coming from each school around February.

    • If you would like to volunteer, contact a LEISD campus library media specialist
    • New Volunteers will complete a Volunteer Application Online. Choose Level 2 and select Reading Volunteer.
    • Existing volunteers who have already submitted a volunteer application, will just need to log into their application and check Reading Volunteer.

For our annual "Read Across Little Elm" program, we invite fellow community members to put aside the many hats they wear for work and play and don their "reading hat"!  Be a part of this flurry of reading excitement! Get involved in supporting children's literacy in our community:

    • Volunteer to read with us at a school, afterschool program, community center, library, or daycare facility on our designated "Read Across Little Elm" day.
    • Help set a good example. Contact your elementary school librarian and volunteer to share a story with a class.
    • Since this NEA supported endeavor is designed to put every child in the company of a book, take the opportunity to read and enjoy! Read to a child in your life.

You can make a difference to future generations of readers!

NEA estimates that last year almost 45 million children and adults celebrated the joy of reading on Dr. Seuss' birthday. This year they hope to bring a nation of readers together to really drive home the message about of the importance of reading.

Here in Little Elm ISD we hope that every child will be reading with a caring adult. For more information about NEA's Read Across America, visit www.nea.org/readacross.
