Mrs. Liz Moen - Inclusion 2nd, 4th, 5th
It is great to be back in the classroom again! Perhaps I should say classrooms. I am the Inclusion Specialist for 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades. That means I spend most of my time in grade level classrooms helping students who need some support to do their class work.
I was first attracted to teaching children with special needs when I volunteered at a day camp at age 11. I was hooked. After that, I looked for every volunteer opportunity to work with these children. I attended Sam Houston State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching degree. I went on to teach for 20 years in a variety of special education settings in Texas public schools. It was a true calling.
However, a few years ago, I left teaching to follow another calling. I attended Perkins School of Theology at SMU and became a United Methodist Pastor. My years in special education certainly helped me in my position as a pastor in the Little Elm area for the last 6 years. Now, I am finding my seminary training and my years as a pastor are helping me in supporting my students and the grade level classroom teachers.
Last spring, I realized I really missed teaching and began applying for teaching positions. I am so blessed to be a part of the faculty and staff at Lakeview Elementary. It has been a bit of adjustment to go from Pastor Liz back to Mrs. Moen, but I'm thrilled to be back at school.
I spend most of my days in grade level classrooms.
If you need to reach me, please call or email me.
