Mrs. Niki Castellow, 2nd grade

Hello Lobo Parents and welcome to my webpage!  My name is Niki Castellow and I am looking forward to a great year with your student.  I am teaching 2nd grade monolingual at Hackberry Elementary and I love being part of this wonderful district. I have taught at both the elementary level and the middle school level. This will be my first year at Hackberry Elementary, and my 4th year as a Lobo teacher. I began my teaching career in 2007, after spending time at home raising my three children.  I have taught 4th grade, 6th grade, middle school, Reading intervention and English as a second language.  I am thrilled to begin 2nd grade for the school year 2018-2019!

My favorite things to do outside of the school are spending time with my husband and our children, reading, and traveling to see my family back in Oklahoma at the farm where I grew up.

I believe learning is a life-long journey that we never outgrow.  The journey itself is more important than the destination.

  • I am teaching 2nd grade Reading and including Social Studies TEKS within the content at Hackberry this year.  We will build on our phonemic skills, reading skills, spelling, writing, grammar, vocabulary, sight words,  social studies basic skills, and so much more!  I enjoy working with each and every one of your children this year and I love being part of the Hackberry FamiLE this year!  This is my 11 year in the classroom and my 3rd year with LEISD.  I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, 6th, 7th, & 8th grade English and English as a Second Language as well.
