Ms. Shari (Khadija) L. Zaidi

I am working at Hackberry Elementary as a Special Education Inclusion Specialist since December 2018.  Before becoming an Inclusion Specialist, I was a substitute teacher for several years with the district and also worked at Hackberry as a paraprofessional in the same department. I previously taught at Dallas ISD in the Special Education Department in an Autism Communications Unit grades 3rd-5th. I started teaching in 1989 as a teacher in the Natomas School District in California in a Pre-K classroom and in 4th grade. I have also substituted for teachers for more than 2 years. I have been teaching for 7.5 years.

I was born in Eureka, California, with a population of 26,000, the land of the Redwood Trees. As a child, I enjoyed camping and swimming with my mother and spending time at the river and on the beach chasing waves. I have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. I  recently moved to Frisco from Little Elm and have been in Texas since about 2009. I love the little Elm Community and the District as a whole.

In my free time, I enjoy gardening and walking. I am learning to play the daf( one-sided drum). I am studying Sufism, and reading books on depression, anxiety, and being a leader. I also enjoy taking care of my daughter's pets: 2 parakeets and 2 cats. I enjoy visiting my family in California.

My goal in education is to offer all my students the chance to learn and gain knowledge to grow to their full potential by teaching them the skills they need to succeed. I want to let them know that they matter and that they can achieve their dreams.   I will be offering them the tools they need to help them along the way.
