Mrs. Jordan Scott - 5th grade ELAR
Welcome families! My name is Jordan Scott and I will be teaching 5th grade ELAR at Brent Elementary! I am beyond excited to be back in the classroom this year and to get to know you and your child! A little about me, I am a California native and though I wasn't born in Texas, I got here as fast as I could and have loved every moment of it! I got my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Riverside in 2013 and my multiple subject teaching credential and my Masters of Arts, Learning, and Teaching from the University of Redlands in 2015. I started my teaching career in 2016 in Rialto, Ca where I taught 1st graders for a year and got to loop with them to 2nd grade the next year. I then went on to teach 4th grade for 2 years in Moreno Valley, Ca. For the past year, I taught as a Independent Study teacher at a charter school in Menifee, Ca where I provided detailed lesson plans and one-on-one support to homeschooled students in grades 2nd through 4th. My family and I made the choice to move from California to Texas this past summer. We are now Denton residents but Little Elm has welcomed us with open arms and we could not be more grateful. My son attends Brent and has loved his experience in his new school as I am sure your child will too! In my spare time you will find me with my family exploring our new state and finding fun activities to do with each other! We love to eat good food, play outside, and get to know our new community! This year, your child will fall in love with reading and writing and will be given all of my support along the way. I stress the concept of family in my classroom and I believe that it takes a village to raise each other up in this world. Please never hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. We are a team and together we will help your child succeed! My teaching philosphy is that every child can learn, their learning may look different from another child in the room but with the right tools and support they can find their own success. Let's have a great year!
