Experience:

I have been teaching for 27 years, mostly in Little Elm. I taught middle school science for five years, 5 years in 3rd grade, and will be 17 years of teaching 4th grade.    Math and Science are my favorite subjects to teach.  This school year, I will be teaching Math, Science, and Engineering.   I love teaching children and helping other people.  I am always learning how to be a better teacher each year.  My team and I are very similar in our teaching.  We have lots of fun activities planned throughout the school year for the students.  

Math:

In Math, there is always a cool strategy to solve a problem.  Students will be learning lots of strategies.  Problem-solving strategies are important for math, science, engineering, and science.  Multiplication facts are important and will be used in most concepts.  Students need to continue learning their multiplication facts this year.  We will be breaking apart numbers to understand how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Every student will have an online Math Journal with notes, vocabulary, and examples for each concept and strategy taught throughout the year. 

Science

In Science, we will be learning physical science, earth science, and life science. We learn about mixtures, force and motion, soils, solar system, weather, animal adaptation, and much more. We learn through observations, hands-on activities, collaborating, and projects to learn all the different concepts.  

Family:

I grew up in Irving, Texas, with my parents and brother. Then after high school, I attended the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Earth Science. I married Jeff Smith 23 years ago, and we have lived in the Little Elm area for over 20 years. My husband is an art director at a printing company in McKinney. We have two boys and one girl, Kevin, Kodey, and Savannah.  We truly love spending time with our children. We play games, traveling, watch movies, and do craft projects together. Plus, enjoy spending time with extended family and friends.   We have one dog and three cats. My children would have more pets if we would let them. I love reading mysteries stories, watching movies, and doing craft projects.
