I have been teaching for 24 years, mostly in Little Elm. I taught middle school science for five years, 17 years teaching 4th grade. This is my 3rd year to teach 3rd grade. Math and Science are my favorite subjects to teach. This school year, I will be teaching Math, Science and Engineering. I love teaching children and helping other people. I am always learning how to be a better teacher each year. My team and I are very similar in our teaching. We have lots of fun activities planned for the students.
In Math, there is always a cool strategy to solve a problem. Students will be learning lots of strategies. Problem solving strategies are important for math, engineering and science. Multiplication facts are important. Students need to start learning their facts this year. We will be breaking apart numbers to understand how to add, subtract, multiplication and divide. Every students will have a Math Journal with notes, vocabulary, and examples for each concept and strategy taught through out the year.
I grew up in Irving, Texas, with my parents and brother. Then after high school I attended University of North Texas and received a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Earth Science. I am married to Jeff Smith 19 years ago, and we have lived here in Little Elm area for 17 years. My husband is an art director at a printing company in McKinney. We have two boys and one girl. We truly love spending time with our children. We play games, watch movies, and do craft projects together. Plus, spending time with extended family and friends. Kevin is a 23 years old. Kodey is a freshman at Texas Tech University. He is studying to be an Artichtect. Savannah is a freshman in high school. She enjoys dance. We have one dog and three cats. My children would have more pets, if we would let them. I love reading mysteries stories, watching movies, scrapbooking, and spending time with my family and friends.
I truly have the best career and love going to school every day to see my students. They are like my family. I want each child to be successful, so please let me know how to help your child.
