Frequently Asked Questions
-
What kind of services are available?
If your child qualifies for services, a multidisciplinary team will meet to decide what program best fits the individual needs of your child. This team will include:
- school administrator
- parent(s) or guardian
- evaluation personnel
- teacher(s)
- student
The team will review evaluation information, discuss eligibility, identify the areas of need for specialized instruction, including related services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or counseling. If the team determines your child is eligible for special education services, they will work together to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
-
How much do these services cost?
For students eligible for special education programming, Little Elm ISD is committed to providing a free, appropriate public education for your child.
The ARD Committee assures that all instructional and related services specified in the IEP will be provided to the student at no cost. Fees normally charged to students without disabilities or their parents as part of the general education program may be charged (ex. lab fees, art fees, technology fees, etc.).
