Getting a new school year off to a good start can influence children’s attitude, confidence, and performance, both socially and academically. The transition from August to September can be difficult for both children and parents. Even children who are eager to return to class must adjust to the greater levels of activity, structure, and, for some, pressures associated with school life. The degree of adjustment depends on the child, but parents can help their children (and the rest of the family) manage the increased pace of life by planning ahead, being realistic, and maintaining a positive attitude.

One of the most important ways that parents can encourage academic success in children is to help them develop responsibility through good study habits at home. Studying is thinking. Therefore, it is important to establish an environment and a routine that is conducive to concentration and great study routines.

Studies of successful schools report that parent involvement is a major factor in their outcomes, and their whole development. Working with teachers one on one will definitely improve academic performance and ensure students' achievements.

The main objective of this session is to make parents aware of the potential dangers in the misuse of social media. Also, to equip parents with different parenting tools to use in order to keep their children safe and emotionally healthy through the use of technology.

Mindfulness is a practice that begins with paying attention to your breathing and thus focusing on the moment, not on what could have been or what you are worried might happen. In this session parents will learn that the ultimate goal is to distance themselves from negative emotions and thoughts so they can observe them without an immediate reaction.

Good nutrition is the bedrock of lifelong health, and it begins in infancy. Healthy eating can stabilize children’s energy, sharpen their minds, and even out their moods. Unfortunately, kids are bombarded by messages that can counteract your efforts. Between peer pressure and the constant television commercials for junk foods, getting children to eat well might seem more futile than fruitful.

In this session we will enable parents to understand the pressures young children face today, recognize characteristics in children that might make them more susceptible to peer pressure, and help parents develop skills for teaching children how to confront peer pressure.

During these two sessions we will discuss the five components of Goleman’s Emotional intelligence (empathy, effective communication and social skills, self-regulation, self-awareness and motivation as the main pillars of our children’s emotional well being.

Families will understand how traditions, rituals and routines are different in each culture and how they support family values.
