Improvement Plans
District Education Improvement Council
Purpose
The District Education Improvement Council is a decision-making and advisory group for the Superintendent and School Board in matters of district planning and improvement, operations, programs and objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
The DEIC will establish and review the district’s educational goals, programs and objectives in order to advise and make recommendations to the School Board. The Council will also approve the district staff development plan, which will be included in the District Improvement Plan, as well as discuss and vote on School Calendars, Waivers, Innovative Courses, and other DEIC matters.
Membership
Members of the DEIC include teachers, parents, community and business members, and administrators. Each campus elects the teacher member who will serve a two-year term on the DEIC representing their campus. It is preferred that the staff members elected to serve on the DEIC also serve on the Campus Site-Based Decision Making team in order to keep communication between campus and the district transparent and efficient.
Parents, Community and Business members are suggested and invited to join the DEIC when there is an open seat on the committee. Individuals interested in serving a two year term on the council should contact the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Learning office at 972-947-9340 to express their interest in serving on the DEIC.
Meetings and Agendas
The DEIC will meet a minimum of four times throughout the year.
