Blue Angels Win Awards in Virtual Halftime Competition
November 6, 2020
As many companies and businesses continue to adapt to virtual formats, we are seizing these new opportunities to showcase the hard work the Blue Angels Drill Team puts forth. I didn't exactly tell the girls, but I entered their Pom routine performance in the first ever ADTS Virtual Halftime Showcase. Over 200 teams entered this new contest. We received a Division I rating (90 and above from all 3 judges). The girls actually had an average score of 96, well above the 90 threshold. Additionally, their routine was 1 of 12 routines selected for the GetPoms Best Pom Routine!
Drill Team is unique in the sense that we are not a UIL competitive sport. This allows us to compete against teams outside of our district from across the state and even the US. This halftime competition specifically had teams from Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Louisiana.
We look forward to the Spring semester when our true "Competition Season" begins. The style of dancing is different from what you see at halftime and the competition is fierce! The girls started preparing for competition months ago on top of supporting other teams and organizations and showing our school spirit with dances in our virtual pep rallies, at football games, and other community events. If you want to see the caliber of dancing these young ladies work hard for, check out our Blue Angels YouTube .
