More than 400 LEHS Freshmen Tour DFW Colleges for the Day
October 12, 2018
On Wednesday, October 10, the Little Elm ISD College Readiness Program took over 400 freshman students to various college campuses to spend the day. The students were split into seven groups and visited the following colleges: Texas Woman's University, Texas A&M University Commerce, Tarleton State University, Dallas Baptist University, University of North Texas at Dallas, Southern Methodist University, and Texas Christian University. Each group experienced a campus tour, as well as an admissions and financial aid presentation. Student also had the opportunity to eat lunch in the dining hall with college students.
"This annual event offers great access and exposure to higher education for our students. Our parents want their students to know what opportunities are out there for life after high school, and that is what the College Readiness program in LEISD is working hard to provide," said Keisha Brown, coordinator for K-12 College Readiness. Each student on the trip also received a commemorative "Freshman College Tours" t-shirt displaying the 2022 graduation year. The LEISD College Readiness Program is very thankful for a grant provided by the Gail McKay Foundation which made it possible to have the t-shirts this year.
