March is National Athletic Training Month and Little Elm High School student athletic trainers will be celebrating while covering all the athletic events throughout March. Students will be seen assisting with wound care, taping/bandaging, treatment, and rehabilitation in the athletic training facility. You will also see them working at Boys' & Girls' Soccer, Softball, Baseball, & Track Meets.  

Athletic Trainers are the first responders for athletic injuries and illnesses on and off the playing field and court at Little Elm High School," said LEHS Athletic Trainer Laws Kidwell. "We provide prevention, examination, management, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries sustained from participation in sports. Many of the student assistants in our Sports Medicine program have gone on to become Physical Therapists, Medical Physicians, EMTs, Certified Athletic Trainers, Registered Nurses or other professionals working in health care."

This month students will be promoting National Athletic Training Month by visiting the Little Elm Fire Dept., Little Elm Police Dept., and the Little Elm Animal Shelter. Students will give them goodies, including donations to the shelter, as a token to show appreciation for their commitment and service to the Little Elm community and the school district.
