LEHS Culinary Arts Students Serving Something Sweet at Frisco Lakes Community

April 26, 2019

Little Elm High School culinary students prepared three desserts this week for their first community event in Frisco Lakes. Frisco Lakes is a retirement community south of Little Elm, off of 423. Twice a year, they have a food truck social, which included the tabLE to go food trailer. Sweet-tooth tasters were able to choose from a Texas-sized slice of Chocolate Sheet Sake, Better than Little Debbie Oatmeal creme pie, and Almond Strawberry Bar all made from scratch by LEHS culinary students. At two dollars a dessert, students sold 140 of them Thursday night.

"Three of our Introduction to culinary arts students were able to volunteer for the event," said Gina Gandy, culinary arts teacher. "They ran the show like pros. The students who worked the event came to class giddy and talked about how much fun they had at the event. They all seemed very proud of their work."

Frisco Lakes residents were impressed with our students, they have already booked them for the fall. "Thank you guys again so much for partnering with us for our Food Truck Social Thursday night. We loved getting to see our homeowners and the Little Elm kids interact. It was such a great night."
