This year, they kicked off their summer College Search Series at Little Elm High School on June 18. More than 100 parents and students participated in the event and were sent an email in early June about the event.
For the next several weeks, DARN will visit Bishop Lynch High School, McKinney Boyd High School, Flower Mound High School, Cedar Hill High School, Mansfield ISD, Prestonwood Christian Academy, Nolan Catholic High School, and Fossil Ridge High School. The College Search Series is a program for high school students as their learn how to navigate their way through a college admission.
"We were very fortunate to have Little Elm High School host the College Search Series. Usually, we don't start hosting college fairs until school starts, but this time, we were able to have one in the summer," said Keisha Brown, K-12 District College Readiness coordinator. "Parents were very appreciative to be able to attend a college fair in the summer that allowed them to get a jump start on the process," said Brown.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in fall 2017, about 20.4 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities.
