Drone Authorization

The Texas Education Code grants school districts the authority to adopt rules to protect the safety of students, employees, and property. (Tex. Edu. Code 37.102(a)). Pursuant to this authority, Little Elm ISD has adopted these procedures regarding the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), otherwise known as drones, on or in the airspace above District-owned property or off-site for any District purpose by any person, employees, representatives, contractors, volunteers, students, and parents, as well as members of the general public, to the extent specified herein
