Little Elm ISD developed the Commitment to Excellence Process to guide our district to meet our vision of being THE Destination District. It has evolved into LEISD’s continuous improvement model.  

Commitment to Excellence is based off the book, The One Thing, by Gary Keller. The premise of The One Thing is to determine “what’s the ONE Thing you can do such that by doing it everything else would be easier or unnecessary?”

The Commitment to Excellence Process has five distinct parts which work together to form a continuous improvement model:

• Campuses and departments conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and a root cause analysis.
• Campuses and departments determine what their “One Thing” will be for the year.
• Campuses and departments create their plan on a page with their strategies, plan, and implementation for their “One Thing”.
• Campuses and departments report quarterly to the Superintendent’s Cabinet and Leadership team on their progress towards goals set for their “One Thing” in student measures and teacher fidelity.
• Yearly a report is made to the Board of Trustees on the attainment each campus and department made toward their goals. 

The Commitment to Excellence Process ensures we are doing what we say we are going to do. The Commitment to Excellence Process is a method to regularly review our most important goals for campuses and departments.
