-Neil deGrasse Tyson
Science, as defined by the National Academy of Science, is the "use of evidence to construct testable explanations and predictions of natural phenomena, as well as the knowledge generated through this process." This vast body of changing and increasing knowledge described by physical, mathematical, and conceptual models. Students will use the foundational skills and knowledge of science they developed in elementary to dive deeper into various areas of science content. Middle school science is interdisciplinary and helps students to make cross-curricular connections. High School science allows students to uses scientific process and explores the macro level of each science discipline.

In Little Elm ISD, science is the area of study where students:
- Define and articulate problems through research into what is already known and think creatively about what solutions might be possible
- Design questions based on observations and prior knowledge to spark investigation, develop meaningful connections and inspire further inquiry.
- Plan and conduct investigations on biological, chemical, physical, and earth sciences using appropriate tools to answer questions, explain phenomena, or engineer solutions to solve problems.
- Develop and/or use models to represent phenomena, objects, processes, and the relationships within systems.
- Analyze data to derive meaning, identify patterns, and discover correlations. Communicate evidence-based explanations, findings, conclusions, and/or evaluations of designs.
- Work collaboratively to achieve a level of precision and accuracy by honing techniques, skills, methods, and processes to create and innovate.
