Student Device Program
All LEISD students will have regular access to an assigned device.
Students in grades PreK have iPads available in the classroom. Kindergarten through 5th grade will use Chromebooks that are kept in the classroom in carts. Procedures will be in place for students to take devices home at the campus or teacher's discretion.
Students in grades 6-12 are issued a Chromebook for use in classroom learning. Devices are expected to be brought to school fully charged every day.
In care of the devices, students will be expected to abide by the:
Daily Expectations
Student expectations for use of devices:
- Students are expected to be a good Digital Citizen and promote responsible use of digital tools.
- Being prepared for class means bringing your device to school each day and having it fully charged.

- Students are expected to keep food and beverages away from the device.
- Students are expected to NOT place non-approved decorations (stickers, markings, etc) on the device.
- Students are expected to notify the teacher or school administrator as soon as possible in the event of damage, theft or loss.
Device Damage or Loss
You can view the procedures regarding device damage or loss in the Student Device Responsibility Use Handbook.
Accessing the Internet at Home
All internet access from a LEISD computer or wifi network goes through an internet filtering system, which is what protects students during their use of the internet. Students remain safe and secure through this internet filter while using their LEISD computer at school and at home.
Follow these directions to connect your LEISD Chromebook to your home wifi internet connection.
After completing these tasks, students will still be fully protected by the LEISD internet filter, whether they are connected to the internet at school or at home.
Online Safety
LEISD students are encouraged to use their laptops at school and at home for educational purposes. While their internet content will remain filtered, one of the best ways to manage your student's device use and online safety habits is for a trusted adult to be active and involved with them. Here's some tips to get you started:
- Discuss the websites your student visits
- Know your student’s login information
- Let them know it's okay to share this with you or a teacher but should never be shared with anyone else.
- Charge the device in a family room
- Ensure the device stays in its case
- Ask how the device is used at school each day
Topics like Digital Citizenship, Digital Footprint, Cyber Safety, etc. are of the highest importance in keeping our students protected and safe online. Some of the websites below can provide parents with valuable resources, information, and insight into these areas.
