Building Leadership: One Hand Shake at a Time

Leadership, confidence, and real-world skills took center stage as Little Elm ISD hosted its first regional Amazing Shake contest — marking the first time all elementary campuses participated in the experience. The past two years only one campus, Oak Point Elementary particpated.

The event, coordinated by Kori Werth, Lakewood Village Elementary, brought 133 students together to showcase professionalism, communication, and character in a fun and meaningful way.

Modeled after the nationally recognized program developed by the Ron Clark Academy, the Amazing Shake challenges students to master essential life skills. From delivering the perfect handshake to confidently navigating conversations with adults, students were pushed outside their comfort zones and into real-world scenarios designed to build poise and confidence.

Throughout the competition, students rotated through interactive stations where they practiced professional introductions, interview skills, and networking techniques. One of the most impactful elements of the contest was the opportunity for students to connect directly with local business and community leaders, offering a glimpse into future career possibilities while strengthening interpersonal skills.

After an impressive day of competition, five students rose to the top as this year’s Amazing Shake finalists:

• Adam Ebadi, 5th Grade – Lakeview Elementary

• Devan Stewart, 5th Grade – Lakewood Village Elementary

• Finley Head, 5th Grade – Lakeview Elementary

• Rhema Omozuanfo, 4th Grade – Oak Point Elementary

• Jackson Brogdon, 5th Grade – Brent Elementary

Each finalist demonstrated outstanding professionalism, confidence, and communication abilities that reflect the district’s commitment to preparing students for success beyond the classroom.

The expansion of Amazing Shake to include every elementary campus highlights the District’s focus on developing the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally. By introducing leadership and career-readiness skills at an early age, students gain valuable experiences that will support them throughout their educational journey and into their future careers.

Events like Amazing Shake continue to show that success is not only measured by academic achievement but also by a student’s ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and present themselves with confidence.

The five finalists have a chance to travel to Atlanta to compete in the Global competition against students across the world.
