Kristi Roberts
Little Elm ISD is pleased to announce Kristi Roberts will serve as the next Executive Director for Special Populations.
Roberts had previously served as the Assistant Director for SPED in Little Elm ISD for the past year. Her experiences include serving in a supervisory role in Denton ISD for three years and being a coordinator for
Mesquite ISD for 11 years.
Roberts is extremely knowledgeable about federal special education regulations, evaluating student data for achievement, behavior programs, training teachers in special education for compliance, and
supporting teachers with the necessary educational resources to ensure success in the classroom.
“Kristi Roberts brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Little Elm ISD as the Executive Director
for Special Populations Services and she believes fully in the success of all students,” said Mike Lamb,
superintendent. “She is relational, she spends time with parents and students and when you couple that
with her expertise, she will be a strong force in our SPED program.”
Roberts has her Texas Special Education Certificate and she is also a member of the Texas Council of Special Education Administrators.
Mickey James
Little Elm ISD is pleased to announce Mickey James as the Executive Director for Construction Services. James spent the last year as a contract manager with Dallas ISD and before that, he was the Construction Manager for Frisco ISD for six years.
James has served in a variety of roles for construction. He was the construction coordinator at McKinney ISD from 2012-2015, project manager at the University of North Texas for a year, and before he entered the public school setting, he spent three years as a building inspector for the City of Garland and managed construction projects for Highland Homes. Early in his career, he had the opportunity to intern at several reputable architectural firms in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
“Mr. James has seen every angle of construction. From public schools, the municipal side, and the private sector, he is going to be an asset to Little Elm ISD,” said Mike Lamb, superintendent.
James will lead and oversee construction projects as a result of the passage of the 2022 bond and various other needs for the District.

Little Elm ISD is pleased to announce Howard Higginbotham as the new principal of Herschel Zellars Early Childhood Learning Center.
The first day of Kindergarten brought a mix of excitement and nervousness for Jessica Sublet and her son, Baylen. Originally from Montreal, Canada, and fluent in French, Jessica hoped Baylen would also learn to speak two languages. She was thrilled when she discovered Little Elm ISD offers bilingual education.
This past weekend marked a remarkable achievement for the budding artists of Little Elm High School as they participated in the 30th State VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) competition held in San Marcos, TX
The Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of the next Hackberry Elementary Principal at the Board Meeting on Monday night. The District is pleased to announce that Steven Menezes will serve as the Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.
