Sought After Texas Mobile STEM Lab Makes a Stop in Little Elm

Brent Elementary students recently stepped into the world of engineering and problem-solving when the Texas Education Agency’s Mobile STEM Lab visited campus for two days of hands-on learning experiences.

Second grade students participated in an outdoor STEM challenge inspired by the classic story of the Three Little Pigs. Working in teams, students were tasked with designing and building a home sturdy enough to protect the little piggy and withstand the “sneeze” of the Big Bad Wolf. With only 25 minutes on the clock, students collaborated, tested ideas, and used critical thinking skills to create strong structures.

The TEA Mobile STEM Lab program travels across Texas with nine mobile labs that visit more than 200 schools each year. Brent Elementary was selected from more than 1,200 applications to host the experience, giving students a unique opportunity to engage in interactive STEM learning right on their campus.

Throughout the two-day visit, students explored science, technology, engineering, and math through creative, hands-on activities that encouraged teamwork, innovation, and curiosity. Experiences like these continue to showcase the engaging learning opportunities available to students in Little Elm ISD.
